Bursaries
If parents have any problems relating to the
fees, they should contact the Honorary Treasurers. Letters should be
sent in a sealed envelope and clearly marked for the attention of
the Treasurers.
Parents in School
Parents may assist in many ways, either on a
regular basis or on outings. A questionnaire is circulated from time
to time asking for assistance with workshop events or special
talents and areas in which you could help. We welcome the support
and involvement of parents as it helps you to understand more about
the learning process and enables teachers to develop a helpful
working relationship.
Lost Property
We encourage children to be responsible for
their own possessions. Please ensure that every single garment worn
by your child is clearly named so that it may be returned if it is
mislaid. Any unmarked and unclaimed property is left in the lost
property box in the upstairs cloakroom and, if unclaimed, will
eventually be given to a charity shop.
Absences
When a child returns to school after a short
absence, parents must send the teacher a short note of explanation.
If an absence is likely to be longer than a few days, please let the
Head Teacher know as soon as possible. All infectious diseases must
be notified at the earliest opportunity.
Dental and other appointments should not be
made in school time. In case of emergency, please request permission
in writing.
Holidays should not be booked during term
times and permission must be requested for absences to be
authorised. Teachers do not provide holiday homework for absences in
term time
Children should not leave early for birthday
parties
Medical
Your child is examined by the school doctor
during the first year at school You will be informed and asked to be
present. Kindly note that teachers are not allowed to dispense
medicines to pupils. Parents are responsible for administering
medicine to children.
Where a pupil is taking long term medication,
a note giving clear instructions for administration should be sent
to school with a small dose in a clearly named container. Medicines
must be handed into the school office. Where possible, medicines
should be self administered under supervision of an adult. Medicines
should not be sent in glass bottles and may not be kept by pupils.

Sunday mornings 10am-2pm and Monday - Thursday 9.30am - 5.30pm and
Fridays 9.30am - 3.30pm.
Reporting to Parents
We value the good relationship that exists
between parents and the school. As parents, you will have the
opportunity in the Autumn and Spring Terms to attend Consultation
Evenings at which your child’s work will be discussed privately with
teachers.
In addition, staff are always pleased to meet
with you, by appointment, to discuss any issues relating to your
child. If you are concerned about any matter you should, in the
first instance, discuss this with the class teacher so that it can
be dealt with quickly and effectively.
You will receive an annual written report
towards the end of the Summer Term (July). These are sent to your
home in a sealed envelope.
Special Events
During the year we look forward to welcoming
you to a number of special events - celebrations for chagim, sports
days and matches, class siyum and curriculum events.
The PTA holds open meetings each term with a
programme of general interest.
General Behaviour
Pupils are expected to act in accordance with
traditional Jewish values. We expect our pupils to show courtesy and
to demonstrate acceptable social conduct at all times.
Letters to Parents
Letters and circulars regarding school
activities are usually sent home on a Wednesday. Please reply
promptly for activities requiring permission or confirmation of
consultation appointments. PTA communications are sent to parents by
email. Arrival - Departure
Children should not be brought to school too
early in the morning. The teacher on duty is expected to be present
from 8.45am. If you leave your children in the playground earlier,
the School cannot accept responsibility for their safety before
8.45am. Once the teacher is on duty, parents should not wait in the
playground. When the bell is sounded, this is the signal for pupils
to walk into line in silence.
Children should be collected promptly at
4.00pm. If you are unavoidably delayed, please telephone the school
in good time. Reception Class parents may wait in the dining room
from 3.30pm if they are collecting other children at a later time.
Bringing Things to School
Children should not be given any “tuck”
(sweets, biscuits, crisps etc.). Pupils may bring fruit or a drink
for break.
Please do not send your child with any
expensive belongings. Generally there is no need for children to
bring any money to school. There is a regular weekly collection for
tzedakah which is usually on a Friday. When other monies have to be
brought to school (for outings etc.), this must be in an envelope
and clearly marked with the child’s name and class. It should be
handed to the class teacher at registration. Reply slips and
permission slips should also be returned to the class teacher.
Pens and pencils are not provided by the
school.
Electronic toys should not be brought to
school.
Lunch
There are three sittings for lunch. All
children take Kosher school lunch. A vegetarian or sandwich option
is available however this needs to be requested in advance for each
half term.

entire outfit is available from School Wear, Brent Street, NW4.

Early Finish to the School
Day
During the winter months, school finishes
early on Fridays. A separate list giving the times at which school
finishes is issued during the Autumn Term.
No child may leave school alone at any time
without a parent’s written request for permission.
Pupils in all classes have music lessons from
specialist staff. There is a school choir which is chosen from
children in the top classes, and which gives performances for the
school, parents and outside groups, as well as taking part in the
music festivals.
Homework
Tasks to be completed at home are set in all
classes. Usually the work set consolidates concepts learned in class
and occasionally work is of an investigative nature. Teachers
encourage children to complete work and to revise at home and
homework is set regularly and formally. The homework procedures for
each class will be outlined to you by teachers concerned. Homework
assignments should be completed on time and if your child cannot
meet the requirements, please contact the teacher.
Music
Pupils in all classes have music lessons from
specialist staff. There is a school choir consisting of children in
the top two classes which gives performances for the school, parents
and outside groups.
Sport
We are fortunate to be able to enjoy the
facilities of the adjoining Lyttelton Playing Fields where the
children play football, cricket, tennis, netball and rounders.
Specialist sports staff teach the Infant and Junior classes every
Monday. Clothing requirements for PE and Games are given in the
uniform list. Junior and Infant Sports Days are held each year in
the Summer Term. Junior classes are taken to Finchley Lido Pool for
swimming sessions.
Kashrut
The observance of Kashrut is an essential
element in the religious instruction of our children. It is not our
wish to impose standards of Kashrut or religious observance on the
parents of our children; nevertheless we want to be confident that
all children can mix with each other socially without embarrassment
being caused. We, therefore, expect all parents to exercise the
utmost care when preparing meals for other children from the School,
and especially at birthday parties when a large number of children
may be involved. Parents should be careful that meat dishes are not
mixed with dairy products and that only strictly kosher cheeses,
biscuits, cakes and jellies are offered.
A kashrut guide is produced by the United
Synagogue which lists a wide range of foods. Should you be in doubt
as to which products are permitted, please do not hesitate to
consult the Headteacher or Rabbi Livingstone, our Honorary
Principal.
Telephoning
Our telephone number is 020 8455 0909. Please
use this number only for emergencies or for making appointments -
not, please, for casual messages. Parents’ telephone calls to the
school should be made in the morning between 10am and 12 noon.
Emergency Telephone Numbers
Please make sure that the school knows
up-to-date home and work telephone numbers of both parents. It is
essential that the school has an emergency telephone number of
someone who can be contacted in the event of an emergency. The
school must be notified if parents are away during term time and
supplied with the name address and telephone numbers of persons with
whom the child is staying. Remember to keep us informed about your
mobile number and do not forget to tell us if this changes.
Swimming
Pupils in Classes Y3-Y6 visit Finchley Lido
Swimming Pool weekly and receive instruction to enable them to
compete for awards for proficiency and personal survival. Transport
is by coach, supervised by members of the teaching staff. All girls
must wear swimming hats and boys should wear school caps for the
journey. An additional termly charge is made for this activity.
Educational Visits
All classes go on at least one outing per year
and many classes regularly visit museums and other places of
interest as part of their programmes of work. Pupils are accompanied
by staff and parents. A circular with full information of each
outing is always given to children, asking for parents’ consent. No
child may go on a visit unless consent has been given, in writing.
School caps/hats must be worn for all outings
from school.
Road Safety
It is an offence to park on the yellow zig-zag
lines at the school entrance. It is also dangerous to double park.
If it is necessary to turn your car round,
please do so away from the school.
Safety Rota
The PTA organise a safety rota of parents to
be on duty at the beginning and end of the school day. You will
receive a letter giving the dates and times of your turn and some
advice regarding the general procedures.
